We, Soulcore, want to propose a meaningful alternative to mainstream New Year’s celebration. Observing multiple humanitarian crises, none of which should be happening in the XXI century, we want to express our strong conviction to the urgent World Peace issue. The loud and clear message of peace must be once again sent out for our fellow humans around the globe.
Together we can join not only to celebrate peace, which for most of us, privileged westerners take as granted, but also to investigate ways in which our actions can bring about more peace, so much needed in the troubled world. Entering the new year with clear intention and soundly expressed conviction shared with others can be a very refreshing experience, as well as a great contribution to the world peace movement.
We believe in the transformational power of music, dance and communal gathering; also the educational and empowering function of the soundsystem and DJ.
For the 2023/2024 new years eve we want to co-create safe space to hold soulful celebration and encourage everyone to embark on a peaceful warrior quest.
A short workshop meant for those who want to organise in Andrými. The workshop has two parts:
Reflect upon what it means to be responsible and accommodating in a radical social space and what the notion of a safer space can mean for different people.
Reviewing all major material safety factors (locations of first aid kits, fire extinguishers and emergency exists etc. …)
The safer space workshop goes over the responsibilities that come with opening the house and taking care of the space. A short overview of key values and guidelines will be followed by a discussion about possible scenarios and solutions as well as a walk-through of the house.
Come over if you would like to learn how to support other people in the space, react to conflicts, get to know more about the work in our solidarity teams during bigger events or better understand why we have created the space.
If you’re already using the space, either organising within/with your group or as a participant, you’re encouraged to get to know how to support other people and build a safer space for all.
Andrými is open due to you, then let’s get together and talk about our radical social centre in town. Learn how to build a community where people feel welcome and safe.
Struggle for family reunification continues, after the tents were taken down by the Reyjavik city officials request. The temporary shelter, snow fort on the corner of the square, which don’t protect protestors from cold temperatures and snowfall still carries the spirit of the initial movement. Everyday people stay at the provisory shelter showing solidarity and giving visibility to the message from Palestinian Community.
