Trans Drop-In/Social

Trans-organised event, a safe space for trans & questioning people only. Nonbinary trans folks and intersex people who identify as trans are especially welcome to come!

Second Friday of every month 5-9 PM (AND in the same week as the support group on second Tue of every month, if the weeks are different), the radical social space Andrými hosts an independently organised trans social — a non-structured drop-in time for trans and questioning folks to meet up and chat, use the resources in the house (anarchist library Andspyrna, printer, wood and bike workshop…), create art or organise. Great opportunity to make new friends and chat or to have a relaxing quiet time on your own.

This is a closed event — the whole house is reserved for the trans social.

Check out also trans support group meetings: first Monday of every month 8-10 PM in Samtokin ’78 (https://www.facebook.com/events/444408949419534/) and second Tuesday of every month 7-10 PM in Andrymi (https://www.facebook.com/events/698650737160143/).

Accessibility:

The building is currently not wheelchair accessible, unfortunately, but it is our top priority to make it so. We are still waiting for a contract of use from the city that would permit us to change the building.
There is a step before the garden gate and then 5 steps leading to the main entrance, each 17 cm high, door widths in the building vary between 50 cm (upstairs washroom door) and 80 cm (entrance door).
The bathrooms are so far only on the upper floor and in the basement. The door to the meeting room is 75 cm wide (as most other doors in the building). There is no bathroom on the ground floor.
Both washrooms in the building are gender neutral.

As the whole house is reserved for the event, it is possible to be either in the library and a big meeting room downstairs (with tables and chairs) or upstairs in a room with low sofas or in a smaller room with a table and chairs (great for working).

Name and pronoun tags are available.

Combative unionism in Iceland: how well do the tools and methods of Industrial Workers of the World fit in Iceland?

Iceland has a highly regulated labour relations system with vast unions of workers and employers wielding elaborate networks of legal and bureaucratic weapons. The fundamental tools used for self-defence by workers, such as strikes and other job actions, are subject to legal overview by contracts and by government. How well do the tools and methods of the Industrial Workers of the World such as workplace committees, job actions, and popular participation in decision-making fit this scenario?

Dinner will be available. please contact the organizers for food concerns.
