list og stjórnmál – leshópur // arts and politics – reading group
Nov 20 @ 20:30 – 22:30

The aim of the reading group is to push the discussion about the relationship of arts, politics and activism forward. Another outcome is to entangle different circles interested in topics which are not necessarily connected like art-activism and housing problems, aesthetic quality of politics or interrelation between transferring symbolic value into surplus incomes. After attending to the meetings attendants should be equipped with new theoretical tools which can later enrich their own political, activist or artistic practice. The group can also work as a networking space ore concentrated on the interests of the participants than on the making deals. The main aim is to introduce theoretical approach both in arts and activism in order to provide new, surprising and unexpected ideas and more general approach based on ad-hoc political creativity. Another effect of the reading circle is to pose the question about using/occupying art spaces to enrich political debate.

Þjóðlög samspilasæfing // Traditional Music Beginner's Session
Dec 11 @ 16:00 – 18:00

This will be a practice session for those interested in playing folk music. It’s aimed at those with some ability on their own acoustic instruments, but who don’t yet play traditional music or would like to learn more. We’ll usually mention a tune to prepare beforehand that we’ll go through together with someone who knows it well.
The event is only really accessible to those who can already play a little bit of music and have their own instrument (or can borrow one), but that should be the limit.

Gagnrýni á einstaklingshyggju/heimspekilegan anarkisma frá sjónarhorni samvinnusinnaðs anarkisma // Critiques of individualist/philosophical anarchism, focusing on anarchism as cooperation
Jan 30 @ 20:00 – 22:00

//
There are many kinds of anarchist philosophies. Some are more conducive for an anarchist practice than others. This talk will be a philosophical overview of some of the more recent anarchist theories with a critical focus on the “philosophical anarchism” of Robert Paul Wolff. While Wolff brought anarchism back in academic philosophy his thoughts were never really embraced by any anarchist movement. It is too abstract and individualistic to support the kind of voluntary cooperation and social responsibility that is necessary for actual anarchist practice. An anarchist theory needs to put social cooperation first and center.
The event will be held in English.

Samfélag í borgarbúskap // Community in urban farming
Feb 12 @ 20:00 – 22:00

verkefni.
Tungumál: Erindið í dag getur verið á íslensku eða ensku eftir þörfum.
Aðgengi: Andrými var að flytja í nýtt hús sem er því miður ekki enn
aðgenglilegt fyrir hjólastóla.

Urban farming in our community
12th of february 2018, at 20.00 in Andrými Bergþórugata 20. The
purpose is to increase the awareness between us and to the outer rims
of society about different growing projects that exist within
Reykjavík and beyond and most importantly the people behind it. Urban
farming has become a popular term which is a form of agriculture
integrated in the cities. Not only do we speak about the hobby of
growing in their local community, but also to bring the production of
food to some extent into the city. By this we see what is possible,
increase the awareness about ecological resources that provide
services is a not less important. Vegetation growing cities become
livable cities, so it is essential to protect the interest of projects
when rapid development within the city threaten their right of
existence.
This day we will have a talk about urban farming worldwide. We will
also see explore important aspect of designing a garden with
permaculture, and as an example Bergþórugata 20. Sigurður Unuson,
urban farmer and chairman of Seljagarður urban farm will present this
talk
Language: The talk can be in Icelandic or English according to needs.
Accessibility: Andrými recently moved to a new house which is
lamentably not yet accessible for wheelchairs.
