Midsummer Rope is back! Shibari is wonderful and we should have more of it. So, this is a follow up to last month’s rope event.
7 – 8 p.m.: MINI ROPE WORKSHOP: Lead & follow
8 – 10.30 p.m.: OPEN ROPE JAM

7 – 8 p.m.: MINI-WORKSHOP “LEAD & FOLLOW IN ROPE”
Before going into an open rope jam later, everyone is invited (and encouraged) to join in on this mini workshop! We will start the evening together, take a moment to calm down, and then play around with the topic of leading and following in rope.
We won’t focus on certain ties, knots, and harnesses – rope is about connection! How can top & bottom dynamics unfold through rope? We will experiment with moving around together, communicating before tying and reading each other’s signs during play. If you prefer self-tying, you are also more than welcome – solo shibari can be a lot more than technical knot things as well. This workshop is both for absolute beginners and experienced models & riggers. It will be easy-going, switch & mingle encouraging, and aiming to make everyone comfortable. Join!
We’ll start on time, so please try to be there at 7 p.m.!
**Who is welcome & What to expect**
Rope-loving or rope-curious people of all genders, ages, orientations, or backgrounds. We expect everybody to treat others with respect and do their best to be mindful with each other at any time. Any shibari experience level is welcome. You may join solo or with your rope partner(s). The event is meant to facilitate connections within the rope community, but if you’re shy, you are also more than welcome to join anyways and just be there. Nobody will be forced into any interaction.

8 – 10.30 p.m.: OPEN ROPE JAM
Free & safe space for local shibari/kinbaku/bondage enthusiasts to meet, mingle and tie. We’re inviting all riggers, models, switches and rope-curious people of Reykjavik to join for an evening of rope play!
This rope event is meant to give room for individual sessions and create a nice shibari community atmosphere. The jam takes place right after the mini-workshop, so you have the space to explore the new found connections and ideas in a less structured setting. The focus of the rope jam won´t be on teaching, but there is room for exchange.

Rope-loving or rope-curious people of all genders, ages, orientations, or backgrounds. We expect everybody to treat others with respect and do their best to be mindful with each other at any time. Any shibari experience level is welcome. You may join solo or with your rope partner(s). The event is meant to facilitate connections within the rope community, but please don´t expect to find a ‘guaranteed’ person to tie with or to teach you things.
If you join late, make sure to not disturb people that are tying. Some help for the clean-up at the end of the event would be appreciated.
**Safety**
Everyone ties at their own responsibility. We expect riggers and models to only move within their safe skill-set or otherwise actively ask for support, if they want to try something out that they are not sure with – never just assume that someone will be watching anyways. We´re happy to support each other, but we’re not lifeguards by the side of the rope pool. It is within your own responsibility to discuss boundaries and safety issues with rope partners, although we can offer support if needed. R.A.C.K. and P.R.I.C.K. are the general outlining consent concepts here. [(https://shibaristudy.com/blog/post/consent-frameworks-explained-ssc-rack-and-prick%5D(url)).
**Location**
Midsummer Rope will take place at Andrými. We might have some floor mats, but don´t count on it – please bring your own blanket to tie on and mats, if you have any. There will be 2 ceiling hooks as suspension options available, but bring your own equipment.
**What to bring**
◆ your own ropes and equipment
◆ your own safety scissors
◆ a blanket to tie on (+mats, if you have any)
◆ drinks and snacks for yourself or for sharing
◆ if you have: spare rope to share with those that don´t have any
◆ if you have: educational books on shibari
A short workshop meant for those who want to organise in Andrými. The workshop has two parts:
Reflect upon what it means to be responsible and accommodating in a radical social space and what the notion of a safer space can mean for different people.
Reviewing all major material safety factors (locations of first aid kits, fire extinguishers and emergency exists etc. …)
The safer space workshop goes over the responsibilities that come with opening the house and taking care of the space. A short overview of key values and guidelines will be followed by a discussion about possible scenarios and solutions as well as a walk-through of the house.
Come over if you would like to learn how to support other people in the space, react to conflicts, get to know more about the work in our solidarity teams during bigger events or better understand why we have created the space.
If you’re already using the space, either organising within/with your group or as a participant, you’re encouraged to get to know how to support other people and build a safer space for all.
Andrými is open due to you, then let’s get together and talk about our radical social centre in town. Learn how to build a community where people feel welcome and safe.
This is our first Kinky Film Club, we are a group of folk who like to watch movies crossing the domains of kink & sexuality. This is a very low-key casual event to hang out and watch films and discuss them.
We’ll plan on having popcorn and some sodas to snack on!
This event is accessible for everyone, we welcome peoples of all gender/sex/orientation and types.
Since many of these movies contain adult themes we must unfortunately insist participants be over 18.
A interest in kink is probably useful but not necessary!
