Baráttan um fljótin // The battle for rivers conservation
Nov 12 @ 17:00 – 21:30

Viðburðurinn er í þremur þáttum:
17:00 – 18:00 Ungsól/ÞJÓRShÁtíð: Barátta heimafólks um verndun Þjórsár
Erindi um baráttu heimafólks um verndun Þjórsár í byggð, bæði náttúrunnar vegna og nærsamfélagsins. Erindið fjallar einnig um hvernig framtíðarsýn ungs fólks í samfélaginu mótast þegar náttúru og samfélagi er haldið gíslingu með þessi áform hangandi yfir. Óréttlætið í því að stór orkufyrirtæki hafi allt það bolmagn sem þau þurfi til að koma áformum sínum á legg, gegn því að venjulegir borgarar vinni aukavinnu í takmörkuðum frítíma sínum til að vinna gegn áformum sem ganga að þeirra mati á náttúru og samfélag. Óréttlætið í því að þessi fyrirtæki geti kastað þessum áformunum sínum inn í lítil samfélög og splundrað fólki upp í hópa.
18:30-19:30 Ungir Umhverfissinnar (UU)

Hvellur (2013)

The event is in three parts:
17:00-18:00 Ungsól/ÞJÓRShÁtíð: The battle for conserving river Þjórsá
A speak on the battle for conserving river Þjórsá, both for natures sake and sake of the community. The prospect young people in the community have towards the making a future for them self where their natural recourses are being held hostage by the power companies. A speak on the injustice there is in large power companies having all the resources fighting the fight compared to the extra work regular people do for conserving nature in their free time. The injustice, in power companies’ throwing these plans in to small communities, dividing people up in to groups.
18:30-19:30 Young Environmentalists (Ungir Umhverfissinnar)
Young environmentalists will talk about the work that happens within their organisation and how that work aims to affect the policy and decision making of authorities in this field, taking Hvammsvirkjun as an example. They will also talk about how the public can take part, and hopefully affects such decision making.
20:00 Movie night
Hvellur (2013)

Andrými is wheel-cheiar accessible (80 cm wide doors) and there won´t be a problem if people need to move during the event. Detailed information about the accessibility can be found here: https://andrymi.org/?page_id=574&lang=en. The talk will be held in Icelandic and will be written down as it goes.

writing community space
Nov 13 @ 18:30 – 20:30

Monday evenings are offered to all interested in writing and language! Writers, poets, storytellers, translators, bookworms…
The idea is to create a writing community space, with no labels or ownership. An open place to meet and share rather than a formal organization that curates and set the rules. A space to write, talk, read, discuss and dive into writing. A place to get to know the local literary scene. To create, exchange and enjoy.
This space is open to everyone.
Everyone is invited to create this space.

fjölskyldumorgnar // family mornings
Nov 19 @ 11:00 – 13:00

–English below–

———————————–
We are a group of families who meet in Andrými where we organize weekly events on Sundays.
Please join us to relax, talk, create, plan, build, construct, deconstruct, and form the world we want for ourselves and our families. You are welcome to bring food for your family, and to share, if you would like. If someone in your family has special needs (accessibility, safety, allergies, etc.) we will try to make the space and activities safe and enjoyable for everybody! There is space to relax and some tea and coffee.
We are cultivating an environment for fun and reflection where we fight oppression and do not allow discrimination and violence. The space where we meet, and the activities we organize, are intended to be accessible to people of all different abilities, and we welcome people who may have felt marginalized or excluded from other family groups. As a part of the Andrými social cooperative, we adhere to the policies of solidarity with oppressed people, support of the natural world, fight against violence including economic violence, and encourage collective decision making.

Accessibility:

The building is currently not wheelchair accessible, unfortunately, but it is our top priority to make it so. An architect is already working on drawing a ramp and making an accessible bathroom in the space.

There is a step before the garden gate and then 5 steps leading to the main entrance, each 17 cm high, door widths in the building vary between 50 cm (upstairs washroom door) and 80 cm (entrance door), and the washrooms are so far only on the upper floor and in the basement. The door to the meeting room is 75 cm wide (as most other doors in the building).

Both washrooms in the building are gender neutral.

list og stjórnmál – leshópur // arts and politics – reading group
Nov 20 @ 20:30 – 22:30

The aim of the reading group is to push the discussion about the relationship of arts, politics and activism forward. Another outcome is to entangle different circles interested in topics which are not necessarily connected like art-activism and housing problems, aesthetic quality of politics or interrelation between transferring symbolic value into surplus incomes. After attending to the meetings attendants should be equipped with new theoretical tools which can later enrich their own political, activist or artistic practice. The group can also work as a networking space ore concentrated on the interests of the participants than on the making deals. The main aim is to introduce theoretical approach both in arts and activism in order to provide new, surprising and unexpected ideas and more general approach based on ad-hoc political creativity. Another effect of the reading circle is to pose the question about using/occupying art spaces to enrich political debate.

Opinn jóga tími // Open yoga session

Fyrst og fremst hatha jóga en ýmsum stílum hennt inn. // Hatha yoga and also some other styles.
Accessibility:
I don’t have any prior experience in teaching yoga to people with disabilities but I will do my best to help attendees to adjust poses that they otherwise could not do or point out poses/exercises that they can do instead.

anarkiskt kaffiboð // anarchist coffee
Nov 23 @ 20:00 – 21:30

Þar sem anarkistar á Íslandi geta styrkt böndin og hrækt í sameiningu á kerfið sem við fyrirlitum um leið og við hlæjum framan í frelsið.
A time for anarchist in iceland to bound and spit with friends on the system we despise while laughing of our freedom :).
The idea would be to have the first 20 min formal with a round table of presentation of idea and project, then informal smaller group (maybe regrouping people interested in the same project) for the rest of the event.
Acessibility:
we will try to include as much people as we can with this material accessibility and  we will probably not have anyone with sign language skills.
