Femínísk sjálfsvörn / Feminist Self-Defense
Aug 15 @ 17:00 – 20:00

**THIS EVENT IS CLOSED TO CIS MEN**

Hinsegin gegn kúgun // Queers Against Oppression

An introduction to feminist self-defense (a talk and a short training). No previous experience necessary!

Gender based violence is a prevailing form of oppression towards women and queer people alike (although there are fundamental differences in the way women and queer-identified people get attacked).

Slagtog is a queer-feminist collective which has for a goal to train feminist self-defence.

We reject the idea that practicing self-defence means taking the responsibility away from the perpetrators of violence. It is not the responsibility of the attacked to stop or prevent an aggression, but that doesn’t mean we are not capable to or shouldn’t try to defend ourselves when it comes to it.

We believe that the repeated propaganda about our own powerlessness and incapability to defend ourselves is a patriarchal schema that society uses to keep us from resisting.
And for those of us who do resist, society doesn’t hesitate use its law to deem us guilty of violence.

Lunch and crafts – welcoming art space
Feb 2 @ 13:00 – 15:00

Lunch and crafts is a new cyclic meeting program destined for everyone who would be interested in spending time with people while fulfilling themselves artistically. We will be hanging out every other Sunday at lunch time in Andrymi’s cosy room. It’s an occasion not only to do some crafts, but also to make new friends. Every meeting we will be focusing on different genre of art. If you have a creative mind, but you prefer to express it in a company of people, join us and let’s create together!
This week: knitting, embroidery etc. everything concerning yarn, wool, embroidery floss
If you have some tools and materials (old clothes, tshirts, caps etc. are also available), bring them, if not – we will share. If you would like to pursue any other genre of art, you are welcome to do that.

During meetings we will not only eat lunch and create together, it is also a chance for you to shine. If you would like to sing, read poetry or make out this time even more pleasant, you are welcome to come and use the space as a place of a free expression.

The goal is to destine products of our common work for future fundraising helping the cause of keeping Andrými alive and healthy. (But if you would like to make something only for yourself, that’s ok too!)

The meeting will take place on Sunday from 13:00/15:00 (approximately)

Share onion seeds / Deilum fræjum af lauk
Feb 18 @ 16:00 – 19:00

We order seeds together, get to know The Icelandic Permaculture Association and use the day to learn from each other.

Grunngildi vistræktar eru: gætum jarðar, gætum fólks og skiptum rétt. / Ethics of Permaculture are: earth care, people care and fair share.

Við gætum fólks m.a. með því að að versla við eigendarekin fyrirtæki eins og Johnnys seeds og gerum einstaklingum kleyft að rækta lauka gerða fyrir norðlægar breiddargráður. / People care
by shopping with employee-owned companies like Johnnys seeds and allow people to grow onions for northernly latitudes.

Earth care by creating a knowledge community about cycles of nature, one of the best ways is to sow seeds.

Við skiptum rétt með því að styðja við verðmæta samkomustaði, þess vegna fer hluti því sem fólk borgar fyrir fræin til Andrýmis. / Fair share by supporting valuable social spaces, therefore a part of the price of the seeds goes to Andrými.

Hinsegin fólk og heimilisofbeldi – Queer people and domestic violence @ Norræna húsið
Mar 7 @ 13:30 – 14:30

HVAR?/WHERE?: Norræna húsið/Nordic house

Svandís Anna Sigurðardóttir, LGBTQ+ and Equality Advisor, presents the project Together against Violence, the only of its kind in Iceland.

Together against Violence (2018) is a project by Reykjavíkurborg and the Icelandic Police, which details the problem and possible solutions to domestic violence faced by queer people in Iceland.

Please note that the event is in Icelandic, English and Icelandic Sign language. The space is wheelchair accessible. The event is part of the open program of the Annual General Meeting, and therefore it is not necessary to be a member to attend.
