This coming Wednesday ( 27th of May), Slagtog will provide a space for discussing anti-feminist backlashes and attacks that feminists all around the globe are subjected to.

We want to discuss the anti-feminist backlashes feminist movements around the world are facing. We want to share stories about the different forms of attacks that these backlashes encourage, and share strategies to defend ourselves from them.

The discussion will be shaped by the people present, as the contexts differ from place to place (from Iceland, to Afghanistan, Sri Lanka and Malawi etc.. but also from the classroom, to parties with friends to family dinners etc… )

These attacks are public and personal, they happen online, in the street and in our home. We have to defend ourselves against them emotionally, verbally, psychologically and often physically.

The event will go something like this:
-Introduction: Name, pronoun, emotional status (if wanted), what one’s feminism is like and whatever else you want to say about yourself.
-Movement game
– Discussion I: What kind of anti-feminist attacks exist in our different contexts?
– Movement game
-Discussion II: How have we and can we defend ourselves from the attacks mentioned in discussion I?
-Final round: reflection, feedback and expression of any emotions experienced after the discussions.

At the end of the session, we will spend some time having drinks, chatting about whatever and listening to some feminist beats 🌹🎺

NOTE: Please don’t panic about the movement games. They will be accessible for all and no one is obligated to take part in them. We in Slagtog it is important and nice to engaging the body in feminist spaces, but we also like to have a little bit fun especially when talking about subjects that can be very heavy. It can also help people to stay focused on a discussion over a longer period of time.

We dont need no authorities to tell us about social distancing.  We are capable of taking care of ourselves and we are very used to keep our distance.

We distance ourselves from the state
We distance ourselves from society´s values
We distance ourselves from the dominant culture of wage-slavery and submission

This time Μπαχαλιαρος will choose music from around the Mediterranean and beyond.

accessibility:

Unfortunately the building is currently not wheelchair accessible but it is our top priority to make it so.

There is a step before the garden gate and then 5 steps leading to the main entrance, each 17 cm high, door widths in the building vary between 50 cm (upstairs washroom door) and 80 cm (entrance door).

The bathrooms are so far only on the upper floor and in the basement. The door to the meeting room is 75 cm wide (as most other doors in the building). There is no bathroom on the ground floor.

Both washrooms in the building are gender neutral, there are name tags and pronoun buttons by the entrance.

post-dreifing kynnir, í samstarfi við Listahátíð í Reykjavík:

– B I G – P A R T Y – P O S T – C L U B – I N T E R N A T I O N A L –

Vinnusmiðjur! – Tónleikar! – Viðburðir! – Gjörningar!
Iðnó, 1.-12. júlí 2020

Í samstarfi við Listahátíð í Reykjavík kynnum við stolt yfirtöku post-dreifingar á Klúbbi Listahátíðar 2020 í Iðnó.

Sumarið okkar í post-dreifingu fór hægar af stað en við höfðum séð fyrir okkur – vegna ástandsins í samfélaginu urðum við að fresta hinni árlegu tónlistarhátíð HÁTÍÐNI fram til ársins 2021. En þegar einar dyr lokast opnast gjarnan aðrar, og í ár (á fimmtugasta afmælisári sínu) var það Klúbbur Listahátíðar í Reykjavík sem bankaði upp á. Við tökum klúbbaþemað grafalvarlega og ætlum að breyta Iðnó í sannkallaða miðstöð grasrótarinnar; alþjóðlegan stórveislu-post-klúbb.

Við munum fyrir vikið standa fyrir fjölbreyttri dagskrá í Iðnó fyrstu tvær vikurnar í júlí – m.a. vinnusmiðjum, tónlistarviðburðum, ljóðaupplestrum og sýningum á myndbandsverkum. Hugmyndin með vinnusmiðjunum er að bjóða áhugasömum að taka þátt í hinum ýmsu hliðum þeirra verkefna sem post-dreifing stendur fyrir og taka fyrir jafnt það sem tengist skapandi ferlum og skipulagsstarfi. Eins og sum vita, byggist hugmyndafræðilegur grundvöllur post-dreifingar á svokallaðri DIT-nálgun (Do-It-Together, eða gerum-það-saman). Í samræmi við það er helsta markmið verkefnisins einmitt að miðla þekkingu og reynslu (e. knowledge sharing) í þeirri von að veita fólki innblástur til að byrja sjálft að skapa.

Það er post-dreifingu kærkomið að fá vettvang á Listahátíð í Reykjavík til að miðla þekkingu og sýna afurðir listsköpunar þeirra sem starfa innan samlagsins – kynna starfsemi okkar og vonandi hafa ógeðslega gaman. Við getum ekki beðið eftir að bjóða ykkur velkomin í klúbbinn.

post-dreifing presents, in collaboration with Reykjavík Art Festival:

– B I G – P A R T Y – P O S T – C L U B – I N T E R N A T I O N A L –

Workshops! – Concerts! – Events! – Performances!
Iðnó, 1.-12. July 2020

In collaboration with Reykjavík Art Festival, we proudly announce post-dreifing’s takeover of the 2020 Reykjavík Art Festival Club in Iðnó.

For us involved with post-dreifing, the summer got off to a slower start than we had previously pictured – with the tense situation in society we had to postpone our yearly music festival, HÁTÍÐNI, to 2021. But when one door is shut a new one often opens up, and this year (on their fiftieth anniversary) Reykjavík Art Festival came knocking. We take the club-theme very seriously and plan to turn Iðnó into a true hub of the local underground; an International Big Party Post-Club.

We’ll host a diverse schedule in Iðnó over the first two weeks of July – workshops, music-events, poetry readings, performances, screenings, exhibitions and more. The workshops will play a big part here and the idea behind them is to invite those interested to take part in the many different aspects of post-dreifing’s countless projects, focusing equally on creative processes and organizational work. As some might know, post-dreifing’s ideological foundation is based on a so-called DIT (Do-It-Together) approach. In harmony with those values the project’s primary goal is knowledge sharing – and hopefully inspiring people to start creating themselves.

It is very dear to our collective to get a platform at Reykjavík Art Festival to share our experiences and the creative products of those who work within it – to introduce our project and hopefully have a ton of fun. We can’t wait to welcome you all to the club.

Enough. Gather in Solidarity. @ Austurvöllur
Jun 3 @ 16:30 – 18:30

In solidarity with our Black brothers and sisters in the United States of America, we will be gathering at Austurvollur to stand in defiance against the system of White supremacy that continues to murder Black people. It is important that allies assume the role of allyship during this event to protect Black people, ensure a safe space for everyone, and prioritize Black voices above your own. Jeffrey Guarino and Asantewa Feaster will be moderators for the event. The demonstration will begin with reading the names of Black people murdered at the hands of police officers and then, 8 minutes and 46 seconds of silence to represent the length of time it took to murder George Floyd. There will be speakers discussing White supremacy, the institutional use of the police to suppress Black people, and how you can put your White privilege into actions to protect Black people. The demonstration will close with remarks from Asantewa Feaster.

Kynningarfundur No Borders Iceland // Intro meeting to No Borders Iceland
Jun 9 @ 14:00 – 15:30
Opinn fundur fyrir fólk sem hefur áhuga á að kynna sér starf No Borders Iceland og langar að taka þátt. Fundurinn verður með óformlegum hætti þar sem einstaklingar sem eru virk innan hreyfingarinnar munu spjalla um hugmyndafræði, svara spurningum sem fólk gæti haft um starfið og ræða mismunandi leiðir sem hægt er að fara til að berjast gegn ofbeldi ríkisvaldsins, þá sérstaklega þeirri rasísku birtingarmynd sem snýr að farandfólki og fólki á flótta.

***

Open meeting for all those who are interested in No Border Iceland and want to possibly participate in actions and activities organised by the group. The meeting will be quite informal where individual currently active in the movement will talk about their ideological drive, answer any questions people attending the meeting might have and shortly explain different ways to get involved in the struggle against the state and its racist violence that is so bluntly exposed in its treatment of migrants and refugees.
