Queers Without Borders: Action Meeting [Icelandic below]

Post-parade, pre-party. Create the Pride you want to see.

An informal meeting exploring injustice and violence against queer people in Iceland and discussing various ways how to draw attention to it. Bodily violence against intersex children, financial inaccessibility of HRT for many low-income people (especially youth), and deportations of queer asylum seekers are a few examples of such issues.

The meeting is an independently-organised grassroots event, not backed up by any one collective, but rather a few individuals.

Accessibility of Andrými:

Andrými is currently not accessible to wheelchairs, and challenging to access for people who have difficulties going up steps. THE EVENT CAN BE MOVED ELSEWHERE if anyone would like to take part but cannot due to inaccessibility: please let us know on blue1211(at)riseup.net as soon as possible and we will find an alternative space.

There is a step before the garden gate and then 5 steps leading to the main entrance, each 17 cm high, door widths in the building vary between 50 cm (upstairs washroom door) and 80 cm (entrance door).
The washrooms are so far only on the upper floor and in the basement. The door to the meeting room is 75 cm wide (as most other doors in the building). The event takes place on the ground floor. There is no bathroom on the ground floor.

Both washrooms in the building are gender neutral. Name and pronoun tags will be available. The meeting takes place in English unless all participants feel comfortable using Icelandic.

Hinsegin án landmæra: róttækur fundur

Óformlegur róttækur fundur áætlaður til að ræða um óréttlæti og ofbeldi gegn hinsegin fólki á Íslandi og sérstaklega um mismundandi leiðir sem gætu verið notaðar til að vekja athygli. T.d. líkamlegt ofbeldi gegn intersex börnum, að hormónar eru ekki fjárhagslega aðgengilegir fyrir alla og brottvísanir hinsegin umsækjenda um alþjóðlega vernd.

Andrými er því miður ekki aðgengilegt fyrir hjólastóla í augnablikinu en ef þú ætlar að koma en húsið er óaðgengilegt fyrir þig, skrifaðu okkur á blue1211(hjá)riseup.net og við finnum annan stað fyrir fundinn.

Það er eitt þrep við hliðið að garðinum og svo fimm þrep sem leiða upp að aðalinngangi. Hvert þrep er 17sm hátt. Breidd dyra í húsinu er á milli 50sm (dyr að baðherberginu á efri hæð) og 80sm (aðaldyrnar). Dyrnar að fundarherberginu eru 75sm á breidd eins og flestar aðrar dyr í húsinu. Baðherbergin eru einungis á efri hæð og í kjallara eins og er. Fundurinn á sér stað á jarðhæð.
Bæði baðherbergin eru kynlaus. Nafna- og fornafnaskilti verða til staðar. Fundurinn er á ensku nema ef öll geta og vilja tala íslensku.
