Join a practical workshop on Greenwashing and how to avoid it from 10 to 12.
Startig around 14:30, the interactive role-play game Adedayo will spark a discuss about Environmental Justice and social rights in Sustainability.
There’s no need to buy incense sticks, white sage or palo santo shipped from abroad when you can learn to make your own natural incense from wild plants growing in your neighbourhood or from ingredients you are likely to have in your kitchen (like cinnamon powder).
During the workshop, I will introduce the most common wild plants growing in Reykjavik and afterwards, we are going to make incense bundle compositions out of them. In the second part of the workshop, we are going to make incense cones from plant-based powders and essential oils.
I hope that the workshop is going to inspire you to pay closer attention to your surroundings and become more aware of the plants and other species you encounter in your daily life, as well as to engage with them through your senses. I will give you some tips on how to incorporate wild plants into your everyday rituals in a respectful and creative manner.
Come to enjoy an evening in a relaxing atmosphere and meet some people who share your interests.
Donations for the ingredients and the work I put into running the event are most welcome 🙂 (suggested 2500kr)
About Kinga, the workshop host: I’m training in psychotherapy and finishing studies in anthropology. I mostly live in Warsaw, Poland, but I’ve been coming to Iceland as a migrant worker for years and this summer I’m here again, this time working in the gardening department of the city of Reykjavik.
A short workshop meant for those who want to organise in Andrými. The workshop has two parts:
Reflect upon what it means to be responsible and accommodating in a radical social space and what the notion of a safer space can mean for different people.
Reviewing all major material safety factors (locations of first aid kits, fire extinguishers and emergency exists etc. …)
The safer space workshop goes over the responsibilities that come with opening the house and taking care of the space. A short overview of key values and guidelines will be followed by a discussion about possible scenarios and solutions as well as a walk-through of the house.
Come over if you would like to learn how to support other people in the space, react to conflicts, get to know more about the work in our solidarity teams during bigger events or better understand why we have created the space.
If you’re already using the space, either organising within/with your group or as a participant, you’re encouraged to get to know how to support other people and build a safer space for all.
Andrými is open due to you, then let’s get together and talk about our radical social centre in town. Learn how to build a community where people feel welcome and safe.
Join SEEDS in celebrating Culture Day. The main objective is to deliver different workshops on the topics of interculturality, environmental awareness, and connection to nature, between 14.00-20.00.
The event is free of charge for everyone to enjoy.
The “Nonhuman Soundscapes” workshop proposal
o!ers a unique exploration of soundscape creation from non-human entities
in our surroundings. It aims to challenge conventional understanding of
sound and prompt a more in-depth exploration of the sonic potential of
everyday objects. In this proposed workshop, we intend to demonstrate
various techniques for harnessing, adapting, and innovating with diverse
tools to capture and document the “hidden sounds” within daily objects. Every
participant will have the opportunity to bring their own chosen objects, and
under guidance, learn how to record, extract, overlay, and re-edit the sounds.
