RASK Collective meeting
Jan 5 @ 20:00 – 22:00

Meeting to discuss the future and possibilities of RASK.

The concept of RASK is to create a platform for media art, collaborations and events.  The platform works towards accessibility of media art, creating a collaborative network, and create awareness of important political issues through art. Our structure is meant to be open so that anyone who wants to can influence it or take initiative.
For this meeting, we’d be happy if you’d prepare comments and feedback for the past events (both as participants and visitors) and if you have any ideas for future events, collaborations or your own initiatives!

Andrymi Cafeteka open house / opið hús
Jan 9 @ 18:00 – 21:00

Andrými started as a community gathering around a free dinner – for all to have access to warm food and connection with people in town. The focus was to create a space where refugees and migrants could meet locals and each other, get out of our private, alienating lives, and become more collective beings.

Since Andrými secured a house, it has come to shelter a lot of activities – meetings of different grassroots groups, people organising and mobilizing for a better society, an anarchist library, a kitchen for all, different events focused on skill sharing or socializing.

Once we got into a rhythm, Andrými stopped being a specific group, becoming rather a place that is open for all that want to get involved and organize within it. Nonetheless, we acknowledge that sometimes we have to get together for freshideas and untapped energy to spring up. So this is a call for people that are curious, open to learning how to run a space together in a direct, democratic way. For people that want to open up their hearts towards processes that promote inclusion and the creation of safer spaces for all.

You can find more information about the values of Andrými here: https://andrymi.org/what-we-stand-for-2/

—–

The event will take place between 18-21.

At 18.30, there will be a short house tour and a presentation for those coming to the space for the first time. The main room will be arranged as a cosy cafetek (coffee and tea) – so you can read a book from the anarchist library in the house, chat over a warm cup with old or new friends, organise your creative ideas with others, form interest groups, get to know people, and provide further help with Andrými’s organisation.

The space is yours as long as you take care of it <3

Icelandic translation:

Jan 16 @ 20:00 – 23:45
This is one of the weekly sessions for folk music in Reykjavík – there will be drinks provided and all donations collected will go to funding Andrými. If you know what a session is, come and bring songs and tunes (if you have them)! If not, read on.

This session is the only one currently in Iceland but it’s a really common format throughout the English and Gaelic-speaking world and in lots of parts of Europe and probably lots of other places too. The idea is that people come with unamplified music and songs and dances and then do them with other people, usually in a common style. Because we are quite international, most commonly you’ll hear Irish music and songs, and also from Iceland, Scandinavia, Britain, North America and Europe.

These days (since the 1960s), usually a session will happen in a pub, or sometimes a house. It’s not like a concert because it’s not a performance and there’s not really an audience, though there are often people that just come to listen or chat and maybe join in with some singing if they’re feeling that way inclined. It’s also not like a jam session because there are set songs and tunes which all the people participating will know, or are learning. If you want to learn some of these, there’s lots to help you at https://www.facebook.com/groups/RVKsession.

If you don’t play or have a song to bring you’re more than welcome to come and hang out with your friends, and talking, drinking etc. is encouraged during the music – the more atmosphere the better. Sometimes everyone might be quiet to listen to a solo singer. Often you’ll be able to pick up the choruses to the songs and are welcome to join in.

We are all equal – Movie Night
Jan 20 @ 19:30 – 22:00

An independent organised event

Do you know what “antispeciesism” stands for?

If your answer is no (but also if it’s yes) come and spend an evening in company with SEEDS volunteers. We are going to show a documentary about what is happening in animal agriculture industries nowadays and what we can do, trough our everyday choices, to consider non-human animals as individuals and not objects to experiment on, eat, wear, use for entertainment, or abuse in any other way.
After the documentary we are going to have a discussion with some free snacks!

Accessibility

The event will be host in English and the documentary will have English subtitles.
The documentary shows some graphic (but true) images.

Andrymi is currently wheelchair non-accessible. There is a step before the garden gate and then 5 steps leading to the main entrance, each 17 cm high, door widths in the building vary between 50 cm (upstairs washroom door) and 80 cm (entrance door).

The bathrooms are so far only on the upper floor and in the basement. The door to the meeting room is 75 cm wide (as most other doors in the building). There is no bathroom on the ground floor.

Both washrooms in the building are gender neutral, there are name tags and pronoun buttons by the entrance.
