Weaving Island Song - Expressive Arts for Asylum Seeking & Refugee Children & Youth
–
20 February, 2026
Weaving Island Song is a welcoming creative space and research project in Expressive Arts Therapy. It explores how expressive arts practices can support emotional well-being, connection, and a sense of belonging for refugee and asylum-seeking families in Iceland.
We invite children (7–12) and youth (13–19) to take part in playful, imaginative, and creative sessions. Through art-making, movement, music, poetry, theater, and nature-based practices, participants can gently explore settling, adapting, and finding a sense of home—while building community, expressing themselves, and sharing stories of belonging.
All activities are facilitated with care, cultural sensitivity, and respect for each participant's pace and boundaries.
For participants under 18, a parent, caregiver, or legal guardian will be asked to sign a consent form.
*No prior artistic experience is needed.
*Sessions are in English, but English is NOT required to join. All forms or expression are welcome.
