The presentation will be  about the Quartier libre des Lentilleres (Lentillere’s free borough).
It is a patch of 6ha of squatted farmland in the middle of the city of Dijon in France.
Started in 2010 more than 150 persons are living there today, cultivating the land, building communities and solidarities, organising events, workshops, sharing skills, building solidarity with migrants and refugies and preparing the resistance against the urbanistic project planned on this area.
I will present briefly some of the varied projects, groups and activities that compose the mosaic of the borough.
Then I’ll go through the chronology that led to its occupation and developpement.
And I’ll end with some perspective on the current threat it’s facing and the resistance organising.
Accessibility:The building is currently not wheelchair accessible.
There is a step before the garden gate and then 5 steps leading to the main entrance, each 17 cm high, door widths in the building vary between 50 cm (upstairs washroom door) and 80 cm (entrance door), and the washrooms are so far only on the upper floor and in the basement. The door to the meeting room is 75 cm wide (as most other doors in the building). Both washrooms in the building are gender neutral.
